• Modern Western capitalist society generates an abundance of commodities, leading to rampant consumerism that infiltrates our domestic environments. This phenomenon is the focus of our show, which aims to expose its underlying causes and the challenges it creates. 'Je huis op Orde' (Sort your Life out) assists families in decluttering and sustainably reorganizing their households. Presented by Viktor Brand and a dedicated team of experts -Eefje Sedee as the organizer, Quirine Molhuysen as the interior caretaker, and myself as the designer and carpenter- we contribute to transformative, sustainable makeovers that empower individuals to change their lives.

• Families reach out for assistance when their homes become so disorganized that they feel overwhelmed and unable to find a solution. Collaborating with the production team at IDTV, we completely redesign these homes. Due to the fast-paced nature of the recordings, I focus on one or two projects per household, undertaking the entire design and build process.

• CAT & BREAKFAST @ EPISODE 2

  

• First, the homes are emptied, and the family's belongings are moved to a warehouse to be sorted. With the help of the organizer, homeowners categorize their possessions with the goal of donating, selling, or recycling half of what they own.

• WALL CABINET @ EPISODE 4

  

• During this process, I create designs for sustainable furniture, interiors, or structures that enhance organization within the home. I frequently upcycle existing furniture pieces, but in cases where there are insufficient items or they are not suitable for reuse, I source second-hand building materials. Behind the scenes, a skilled team of carpenters works to transform the remaining areas of the house.

• Finally, the home is refurbished with the family's selected belongings, bringing about a renewed sense of order and sustainability.
